The world of Ahret is a world permeated by magic. The elements of magic are exploitable by the practice of elementalism. Two such exploiters are Water elementalist Tori Mariana and Earth elementalist Avani Lahar. Tori survives by stealing expensive items for the black market. Avani spreads elementalism as a religion: Elementism. If left to her own devices, Tori would indulge her love of rarity by "liberating" all sorts of treasures in order to build her own museum. If left to her own devices, Avani would teach every man, woman and child the glories of the gods of Elementism. Unfortunately, both young women have employers to placate: Tori with her criminal trade group and Avani with her hard-line fundamentalist temple. Even more unfortunately, both their lines of work have earned them enemies. One day, their paths collide. Soon after the confusion of battle, both Tori and Avani find themselves free of their distasteful obligations and in need of mutual defense... |

| 1). Tori's Treasure | Tori the thief and Avani the evangelic go about their respective businesses in the rich polis of Meddon. They cross paths in the archon's mansion just as an assassin from a foreign military catches up to Avani. | |
| 2). Avani's Enemy | Tori
shows Avani around the Caravan's hideout and runs afoul of Addanc, her
rival in banditry. The assassin Kreutzet aids the local police in
finding the hideout, which leads to a multi-way confrontation. |
|
| 3). Cirrus's Target | The
girls fight their way out of Meddon while a shapeshifting wind monster
hunts for Avani. The girls safely enter the wilderness
outside the city, where their pursuer is the least of their problems. |
|
| 4). Nature's Way | An
ecological imbalance puts a small forest village affiliated with the
Caravan at risk of predators. Tori, Avani and Cirrus travel there in
search of better food only to aid the village and its leader, Grampus's
sister. |
|
| 5). Dorn's Monsters | The trio searches for transportation across the prairie in the form of giant local monsters. Addanc steals one such riding mount and hunts down Tori and company with intent to kill. | |
| 6). Rannom's Rulers | Tori and company arrive in the remote polis of Rannom to
find that its people are forced to make orichalcum, the vessel for Fire
magic, instead of food. The trio seeks to unseat the criminals
responsible. |
|
| 7). Avani's Faith | Tori and Cirrus go in search of a Flora-magic axe with which to instantly re-grow Rannom's crops. Avani stays behind as voluntary insurance that they will return, and tries to teach Rannom the ways of Elementism. | |
| 8). Tori's Reason | Tori and company finally reach their destination, which Tori reveals to be her home polis. Addanc beats them there, however, and must be found before Tori can safely meet her mother again. | |
| 9). Tori's Mother | Karrun, Tori's adopted mother, plays hostess to the trio in her modest citadel. Avani and Cirrus suspect that Karrun may be behind the events in Rannom, but Tori remains her faithful daughter, which is just how Karrun wants it... | |
| 10). Karrun's Gifts, 1 | Avani relies on unlikely sources in an effort to better understand Tori. Meanwhile, Tori overhears incriminating evidence and confronts Karrun about her involvement in Rannom's recent troubles. What she learns goes beyond mere extortion. | |
| 11). Karrun's Gifts, 2 | Avani and Cirrus struggle to survive against Karrun's agents. Karrun herself reveals her true nature, driving an irreconcilable wedge between her and Tori. | |
| 12). The Trio's Escape | Tori, Avani and Cirrus attempt to escape both Karrun and East Granbridge. Karrun herself, and her consorts, do not make it an easy trial. In between the melees, Cirrus begins revealing her own history -- and her connection with the Nexus. | |
| 13). Naur's Gratitude | As the trio continues their escape across the gigantic Granbridge, Karrun sends a message to a powerful monster, requesting Tori's capture and Avani and Cirrus's deaths. Unbeknownst to Karrun, they run into another monster first. | |
| 14). Avani's Subtlety | The party visits West Granbridge, an anarchist commune, to retrieve some of Naur's valuable belongings as Prince Youdai continues pursuing them. Avani begins tempering her evangelical fervor as a foreign power invades the settlement. | |
| 15). Cirrus's Family | Cirrus forcefully takes Naur to a sports game to ease his fear of strangers while Tori and Avani research Naur's strange disc. Meanwhile, the party's trail is picked up by an unexpected relative of Cirrus. | |
| 16). Rilo's Weapon | As the party rests in a quiet suburb, Avani meets a priest who warns her of a Nexus agent carrying a dangerous weapon. An altercation at a nightclub leaves Tori in the company of a mysterious guitarist who fits the priest's description. | |
| 17). The Nexus's Reach | The party is lured by low funds and a promising pamphlet to a "museum" -- which turns out to be a history-themed amusement park -- in order to sell some of their rare goods. They do not suspect until far too late that it is a Nexus trap. | |
| 18). The Party's Path | Tori makes a snap decision which introduces the party to an autonomous elementalist unit of Dorn's military. Circumstance and an attack by Youdai involves them in an assault on Levanter's invasion fleet. | |
| 19). Tori's Trust | Three days after defeating Levanter and Youdai, the party meets their new friends' wealthy and powerful boss. Tori doesn't yet trust them all -- and revelations about the Nexus make Tori doubt her own friends. | |
| 20). Rin's Agents | While Naur lies incapacitated by Rin's Flora-magic infection, Tori, Avani, and Cirrus return to the airport to steal Rin's cane, the only elementalist weapon capable of curing him in time. Rin's agents -- and Karrun's -- lie in wait for them. | |
| 21). The Craftsman's Work |
Tori meets a renowned craftsman who requires a dangerous trip through a mountain forest before he will fully complete a commission. Meanwhile, Tarassas and Randall's Mother embark on a mission to discover the party's destination.
| 22). Naur's Warmth |
As Naur opens up a little more, the party comes to a mountain village covered in unseasonable snow from a powerful monster. Naur believes the monster to be as misunderstood as he once was and strikes out with his friends to find it.
| 23). Karrun's Depth, 1 | Tori awakens on a beach on Djittor only to learn that she is the sole survivor of a shipwreck. Tori and Karrun spend an emotional time together as the rest of the party, still quite alive, begins to regroup. | |
| 24). Karrun's Depth, 2 | Tori holds a sort of interview with Karrun over how much of what she knows is actually true -- until the wrong answer is given. Far away on a different island, the rest of the party (and new companion Tat) runs afoul of the natives for a surprising reason. | |
| 25). Djittor's Secrets | As Tori searches for the treasure, the L-M unit offers her an unexpected request. Meanwhile, Tat claims to know the treasure's location and guides the rest of the party there. Death is the least of the horrors the Nexus delivers in Djittor... | |
| 26). Abaoaqu's Prey | The chaotic monster Abaoaqu awakens. The souls of the party are its keys to life. Who will accept death? Who will survive? | |
